Whether you are brand new to building your company, or if you’ve been in business under 1 year and find yourself playing catch up or reacting, then you do not have a strategy. During the next 6 months you will learn to build upon your strengths and also learn the language of fashion to be able to hire those partners essential to creating a profitable brand.

Many of my clients come with notebooks full of ideas and research. Pretty much every one of you has had this burning desire to have your own fashion business since you were 16 or even younger. I know I did which eventually led to me opening my wholesale business and retail boutique representing emerging designers. I've been about emerging designers since the beginning of time!
We are getting ready to start our next session with a small group of fashion start ups.
Over the course of 6 months, you will create a strategy, and execute on it. You will see success, you will experience moments of challenging growth, you will transform and build an even more incredible, successful fashion business that you have been dreaming of...it's going to happen.

Month 1: Identify Your Vision and Values
After completing your initial Intake Form, Gretchen will guide you through a series of exercises to come out with a unique branding position for your business. This critical first step allows you to articulate and define the vision and values for your business. We work to clarify the What and the Why allowing you to build upon this foundation over the rest of the Open in Six program. You will:
- Design your own customized P2P Brand Continuum to define and rank your company priorities.
- Articulate the future vision of your brand as a Brand Promise Statement.
- Developing the foundation of your business, a full story of your brand from which to build upon in the coming months.
- Identify your unique brand position in the marketplace.
- Create a clear brand vision including naming.
Month 2: Testing Your Idea, Proof of Concept
Using methods I’ve customized from Lean Start-Up Machine and the experience of building my own companies, you will create and test your business concept in the marketplace. In creating and conducting a wide scale survey, you will gain insight into customer shopping behaviors, competitors, price strategy, and the advertising preferences of your target market. By gaining customer clarity this early on in the process, you can quickly identify any concerns and ADJUST for optimal strategic growth. You will avoid making the mistakes that cost businesses to shut down early on and develop a stronger understanding of your marketplace to prepare your brand and audience to be so ready for your launch!
Month 3: Product Offering
In the third month, you will develop your product offering, or as we say in the business, merchandise your line as a designer. As a retailer, you will create a product and inventory plan to reach your target market at the right price point. Developing a product offering is essential at this early stage to plan for your budget while matching your vision with your customers behaviors. No matter what kind of new fashion business you are creating, during this session you will develop:
- An internal positioning statement to communicate and develop your line.
- A narrow scope to help you clearly frame your offering.
- A fully developed merchandised line ready to position for production or stocking your shelves.
- A plan for launch and for next season - or next month. Your unique business model will dictate your merchandise strategy.
Month 4: Design Your Unique Business Model
Niche business models are paving the way to disrupt and offer new ideas in today’s crowded global marketplace. How will you design your brand - is it retail, online, by phone, private appointment? Or maybe a new model we have not seen yet!
You are fully supported here to creatively design the most unique business model for financial success. No idea is too crazy, as long as you see it you can build it. You will work on cost building for profit, and identify all of the financial steps necessary to fund your business at launch. You will be amazed at how easy these methods and tools make working with financials.
You will walk away with your uniquely developed business model including distribution strategy, target financials planning for future revenue streams. You will also learn how to sustain this business model but also make it limber to evolve to meet the ever changing global fashion market.
Month 5: Create a Communications Strategy
Now for the fun part, building your tribe and connecting with collaborators. You will be amazed at how easily you can start to connect and create a community using social media marketing for your business. You may use social media to keep in touch with friends or follow celebrities, but we take this to the next level and you will learn how the big guys and the small guys create loyalty, pre sell product and find collaborators and influencers to sky rocket your brand to success.
Be prepared to develop:
- Your Brand's Voice using my uniquely designed process. This is the process I have perfected over years of teaching social media to students at universities all over the world. From Tokyo, to New York and Paris they're all using this proven process!
- Everything from a testable list of hashtags to choosing your brand filters.
- Your unique way of communicating your brand via these platforms, for engagement, outreach and attracting your perfect client.
- The way to choose the best social platforms for your brand to start with, right away. And no, you don't need to be everywhere!
- An Influencer strategy for finding partners and collaborators around the world, or in your own town.
Month 6: Work your Plan by Planning Your Work
It's not over yet. Over the past 5 months, you have been implementing and executing on all these steps. So now, we write a plan for your launch. What else needs to be refined, do you need to implement more buying, will you attend a trade show, what about manufacturing and new sources?
This detailed planning month will have you writing action plans and creating a solid road map for the weeks and months to come. Now that you've built the business you can take it into action and see the fruits of your labor come to life. It's the best time to acknowledge how far you've come and celebrate where you are going with your business.

The Open in Six Program is designed to run for 6 months. You will join a small group of fellow fashion entrepreneurs from around the world who are on the same path. I have clients in London, New York, South Carolina, France, Toronto...and the list goes on.
In this program, you will receive recorded video classes, audio prompts, worksheets, excel templates, resources, tools, contacts, referrals. Basically, all the tools I have in my toolbox are yours.
You will come together 2x a month for scheduled Q&A time with me. This is one on one access to me, my guidance, my experience as I serve as a conduit of knowledge to your business and strategic growth. So as you process the work each month, we get together to talk about your results on the calls.
There is no competition here. You are all building your own unique business and can learn from one another, offer insight and feedback and encourage and support. When building a business it is essential to have entrepreneurial support and a team cheering you on.
